Hey Scott-I had a great time.
I hope you can do it
again, you are one guy that
knows how to put on a great
show for the riders. The
Bar B Q was second to none
and the awards were the
best I have seen in
7 years of racing. Again
thanks for a great day of
racing. Allan

"Okay everyone gather round, the riders meeting is about to begin. We got just a few more
riders coming up. OK!  22 riders that should be everyone.  Welcome everyone to W.A.C.C.O’s
World championship National Vintage/ Post Vintage/ Classic/ Iron Man/ Old Man/ Modern Old-
Timers Motocross and Square Dance Tournament. Now you can thank Billy Bobs square
Dance Parlor for helping us make this whole event possible. Without them agreeing to hold
their Square dance competition on the track at half time, we would have never had the funds
to hold this race at this fine old cycle park. The track personnel moved us from the Vet track
to the pro supercross track for the day because they need the money that is generated by the
regular riders coming out to practice on the weekend. That’s why we are on the track on this
fine Tuesday evening. Now don’t get too discouraged about some of the obstacles on this
track. Modern riders, are you here? Ok both are here. Good! You should have no problem with
the doubles and such. Vintage guys, we are going to reroute you around that quadruple set of
doubles by running you all up that 100 foot long 90 degree vertical hillside.. You will crest the
top make a quick left  and drop off of the other side of the vertical and across that 3 foot deep
mud hole right by the water truck tower. Stay to the inside so that you don’t clobber the
Tower. For those of you who were not here last year, Radical Ray hit that tower on his XR 75
and tipped the whole water tower over.  There was a major water flood everywhere. That mud
hole is what’s left from that event.
Which brings us to our next topic; Rider Safety!  Radical Ray did you get your football helmet
mouth guard fixed yet? What did you say Ray?  I can’t understand you.  When is his Oral
Surgeon Dentist appointment?  OK never mind.  Ray just go over and see the man selling
C.R.A.P today. Maybe he can help you rivet that mouth guard back onto your cool metal flake
helmet.
Hey Looney Lenny, I know that the Vintage regalia is cool and all but you cannot wear that
WW 1 leather flight helmet and goggles. And ditch the silk scarf. Yes you can wear the leather
jacket but its gonna get hot. Hey DNF Danny, you’re not riding today right? Good. Can Lenny
use your Pudding Bowl Helmet?  Thanks Danny!
Moving right along…… Okay we have 22 riders present today and 93 classes so everyone
should do real well. What we
'll do is run motos 1 through 10 combined and continue that
sequence except for moto # 44. We have 2 riders in that class so they will get their own gate.
And don’t forget the awards ceremony after the race! Everyone has to take their award today.
We have boxes full of these three year old awards and they need to go. So with that being
said, see you at the starting line."

Timing;
On a motorcycle, timing is
everything!
 If your timing is off
just a little, nothing will happen
as you expect it to happen.
 This
years final AVDRA National was
changed from Barona to Glen
Helen and the timing appeared
right. ARX/ SVRG members Rick
Doughty and Mike Johnstone
welcomed Dave Boydstun and
Mark Arsenault in what was to be
the most attended Vintage race
at Glen Helen in years.
The track layout was perfect for
any year motorcycle and offered
a challenge to riders of all skill
levels.
If the track looked easy to
the spectator, it was just an
illusion.
 There were some
injuries and one rider had his leg
caught under the rear wheel of a
competitor.
 He was dragged a
certain distance before the two
both fell down.
 Both riders were
able to remount and continue the
race.
Everyone seemed to be in good
spirits and the whole day can
only be seen as a success!

This was a resurgence of the
good old California racing scene.

Can all of the clubs involved in
SoCal racing continue to work
together for the common good of
the Vintage Racer?
 It is certainly
possible.
 Maybe all of the clubs
can sit down together and agree
to a schedule that is conducive
to all of the clubs.
 This could be
something close to how the AMA
Districts operate;
 all of the clubs
select a race date or two and all
members attend and support all
of the racing clubs activities.
 At
the end of the year, total points
can be awarded to the fastest
and best riders from all
organizations. Is it possible to
make something of this nature
work?
We will have to see.  One
thing it would do is make  the
Vintage Racing Community a
solid force in the off-road world.

The timing seems to be perfect!
